New Salamis Match Round up 4

U11’s Reds , Another dominant performance but only managed a draw. Just need to learn to takes chances and finish games but slowly slowly are becoming a very organised side. On to next week. U14’s Reds, played out a great cup game against a more superior team, drawing 0-0 and taking it all the way to penalties and unluckily losing 6-5 on pens. We were very unlucky, as we had chances to win it in normal time. Very proud of every single player, they worked so hard, but penalties are a lottery. We are improving every week, and soon the wins will start coming.. U15’s Reds lost 3-2 against a very strong Macabbi London today in the Junior League cup. Maccabi went ahead early on but the reds bounced back with a headed goal from Rodrigo. Unfortunately Macabbi responded well and went 2-1 up just before half time. Following a couple of missed chances the boys eventually equalised with a lovely goal by Mo. The game continued to be close and was played with a fantastic spirit. Eventually Macabbi came out victors after a beautiful goal to make it 3-2. A fantastic performance from the boys that will give confidence going into the next run of matches. A special mention for man of the match Isaiah. 🔴⚪️ U23s’, Had a tough game despite having plenty possession. A lack of a goalkeeper and some avoidable errors clearly played a big role in the 4-0 loss.

New Salamis Match Round up 3

U10s Reds, It tough game Following a disallowed goal by us (which clearly went over the line) we scored a. HGS equalised and then went on to score the winner goal late on in the game U11’s Red, won there second game of the season. Worked hard in a scrappy game but came away with all 3pts. U13s Reds, went down 3-1. Again, just individual mistakes cost us, dear. The game was very even until the mistakes crept in and should have gone to pens with it 1-1 with 7 to go. It was very disappointing, and I let the boys know we must improve Under 16 Reds , After a tough start to the season, losing both games, todays game against AEK was a ‘all or nothing’ game, we started off strong, setting the tone from minute one, winning battles against a strong AEK, we started to create chances and test the keeper from earlier, as the half went on, we finally broke through with a well taken corner to take the lead which was very deserved. The boys continued to work hard to see off the half. Second half was all about game management, with half of the team being new, it was going to be a challenge but the boys played with unity, celebrating every challenge save you name it. Final score New Salamis 1 AEK 0 U23s, men’s under-23s game this week. Unfortunately, it was a tough one, as we lost 8-2 to AFC Oakwood. We started the match with only 10 players, which didn’t help, and found ourselves 5-0 down by halftime. However, I want to highlight the positive turnaround in the second half. The boys showed great improvement, managed to score two goals, and created quite a few opportunities. It’s clear we’ve got potential, but we’re experiencing some mixed results at the moment. Horace and I are working hard to ensure we can consistently field our best 11 week in, week out. That’s not happening right now, and it’s reflected in some of these heavy defeats. We know what needs to improve, and we’re confident we’ll get there.

New Salamis Match Round up 2

Under 10 Reds , Another good win for the U10’s this week against Enfield rangers!!. Showing signs of the form from last season.\ Under 11 Reds, Drew 3-3 to ABP Wingate Racoons . Dominated the entire game in possession, with the opposition having 2 x breakaway goals in the 1st half to put them 2-0 nil up. We managed to get one back before the half before equalising in the 2nd half to make it 2-2. They then went ahead again before a wonder strike level it with 5 mins to play. We had one last opportunity 1 on 1 to win it and my boy put it wide but overall , great game , great effort. Remained positive even when losing and stayed focused to continue playing our football. Happy to still not lose at home. Trying to make it a fortress for us when playing at home. Under 13 Reds, 4-0 loss for the U13s. It was a very even contest until our a basic error at the back allowed the opponents striker to score a tap in. With both teams cancelling each other out, the game should have ended 1-0, but we fell apart, conceding 3 more poor goals. But hopefully, it will serve as a good lesson to all the boys and they can improve in certain situations Under 14 Reds, Lost 5-3 against honestly the best team in the league. Taking the lead twice and going in at halftime leading 2-1 where we were the better team. We made it 3-1 straight from the break, but from the goal, a serious-looking injury to our striker was where our players were distraught. It disrupted our tempo, flow, and organisation of the game. This led to the opposition stepping up the pace, scoring four goals, and taking the win. Very proud of the boys and unlucky to lose, but we gave them a game. Their coach after the game praised our team for how well we played, and he said we were his hardest opposition so far this season. Credit to the team and the hard work they have been putting in. The wins will start coming. 🔴⚪️ Under 15 Red, lost heavily to Alyth Belsize 13-4 today. It was a beating against probably the best team in the league but that’s no consolation. We started well missing two golden chances but things unraveled when awful individual errors cost us 4 successive goals. We managed to pull back 2 goals but further errors and now a loss of confidence saw us go 9-3 down at half time. Adjustments were made and we experimented with one or two positions in the second half which we can now consider in future matches. However we lost the second half too. We have to learn from today. Onto the next match. 🔴⚪️ U23s A Big defeat today in the cup to N21 We just wasn’t good enough in all areas and got exposed time after time. A much more physical team that used this to their advantage. On to next week U23s, Drew 5-5 after going up 4-1 started second half slow and got punished for being to sloppy at the back and in midfield and not playing to our strengths. Overall disappointed with the result as we should have won comfortably.

New Season underway

Under 11 Reds , fantastic win. Even though we won , we should of won by a lot more. The performance was key today, played some lovely football. Onwards and upwards. Well done boys. Under 11 White, Today was an excellent match for the team. It was truly wonderful to see the children all smiling and enjoying themselves at the end of the match they were proud of themselves, winning against good team U13s went down 5-1, playing on a full-size adult pitch. We gave away 4 goals with the boys just not being alert to danger. But we kept going to the end and managed to nick a consolation near the end. We competed well , but just couldn’t get to grips with the pitch and 11 a side football. But I can’t fault the boys’ effort. We just need a little bit more composure and alertness. 1 positive to take was our GK playing up a year, taking MoTM with a string of great saves, claiming a cross, and kicking well U14’s drew 1-1 today, 0-0 at halftime where we should have been leading 2/3 nil up. Guilty of missing some simple chances. After taking the lead from playing beautiful 1-touch football from the back to the front, we controlled the game and should have won it. A lucky goal at the end by the opposition, where a cross went straight in by the wind. Proud of the boys today, they worked hard but were unlucky not to win. On to next week. 🔴⚪️ U23s with the oldest player age 18 won 5-4 against a very goodLondon Brazilian 🇧🇷 team which included some ex pros. In an entertaining end to end game. Our young men completed well and played some beautiful football and deserved this win with some outstanding goals from both teams. The football played today was breath taking from both teams which I’ve not seen for sometime.Hat- trick hero Awal with a Man of the match performance. New Salamis Youth Match Round up 23 – 2023/2024

U14s Reds: CHAMPIONS 🏆 New Salamis U14s Reds got over the line today and won the league. 1-1 vs St Albans – A first half goal from Miles put the boys ahead and it stayed 1-0 for most of the game. There were opportunities to extend the league but it wasn’t to be. St Albans equalised with under 10 mins to go. Fabio, the goalkeeper, pulled off 2/3 excellent saves with one being right at the end. It was a tough fought game on an awful pitch and conditions but the boys did it. U9s lost . We’ve lost most weeks now that we are in the top division. (Last week we lost heavy ) We are working hard with the team to keep the morale up. U11s: U11s FIRST WIN against HMH some great spells in the game with us scoring some lovely goals and our keeper pulling of great saves towards the end! A win well deserved!!!! U12s: won 4-0 against HMH we were commanding from start to finish. Our defence was solid throughout, and our strike force causing all sorts of problems for the hosts, with our GK, a spectator for virtually the whole game until called into action deep in the 2nd half pulling off a wonder save to keep his clean sheet. The most pleasing thing is that I have 7 U11s playing up a year, and you can’t tell Gianluca (u11) with a superb hattrick today, taking his tally to 11 goals and 12 assists in his 1st season playing up a year which are fantastic stats U13s: lost 9-1 against a promotion-chasing team. A proud physical battling performance by us rattled the opponents as they constantly kept moaning to the referee for every challenge we made. The result flattered the opponents, as it was never a 9-1 result, as we gifted the opposition three goals from mistakes. We need to cut out these mistakes. The difference in teams showed, but it’s our first season and their fourth. We showed spirit and kept battling from the first whistle to the end. 💪🏻 The boys saw the level we need to get to and took it in. 🔴⚪️ U16s Whites: U16s white narrowly lost 2-1 vs ac finchley South. A competitive game and we hit the bar in the last minute and then had it cleared off the line. Deserved a point. A much better performance vs recent weeks. Most of the boys worked hard & it almost paid off. U18s U18s smoked ! Hinton 10 – 1Absolutely a brilliant performance from boys from start to finishes. High tempo playing high and caused Hinton problems from the 1st min who just couldn’t handle our energy levels. From Defence to attach and the subs every knew what was required of them today and we hardly put a foot wrong. Our passes where on point and when we did lose the ball we won to back in 4 secs. Keeper will be MAD with himself to not keep a clean sheet !! Ola who is playing up a year was fantastic and got a deserve goal. ScoresSam scoring 6! – Michael – Penalty – Ola -Rayan – James

New Salamis Youth Match Round up 22 – 2023/2024

U18s Reds: U18s lost 3-0. Started the game with 8 men and was holding out until 2 really avoidable goals given to Hinton We had another 2 more players arrive late and we started to take more control of the game creating severalOpportunities. 2nd half was all us for 35 mins but we wouldn’t find away past the keeper and eventually we gassed out with 3 players also fasting and one pulling up with a hamstring problem. A great effort from the boys today and we couldn’t fault the effort they put in.
