New Salamis Youth FC Round up 26/03/2023

Several games called off this week due to waterlogged pitches. However was a great opportunity for both U13s to get extra support from the club . U13s Reds vs St Albans Youth New Salamis Under 13s lost a hard fought game 4-2 . Reds started the match very well but found themselves 2-0 down at half time against run of play. However, the boys started the second had brilliantly and came back to level that match 2-2, with a brilliant solo goal from Miles Burton and a penalty from Kaan Hassan. There looked to be one winner from then on but St Alban’s found a way to take the lead 3-2. New Salamis gambled and pushed for the equaliser but it never paid off and St Alban’s increased their lead with a last minute goal. A good performance for the boys in red and white but very unlucky to lose. U13s Whites vs Highgate and Muswell Hill Quick start in cold conditions saw the boys score our second fastest goal this season in 49secs, followed by a thundering 8 goals which was to much for the opposition to handle, second half we flipped formation and tested some different stuff out. Which ended in a 11-1 victory to the home team.Goals scorers and Assists led by our man of the match Hussein Aldreby with a beautiful hatrick, Adam Choudhury, Kayden Nyanzi, Erald Mehmetaj, Huseyin-Emre Denizer, Jamiah Edwards If you would like to know more about or join us at New Salamis Youth Football Club please email us at joinus@newsalamisyouthfc.com or contact@newsalamisyouthfc.com

New Salamis Whites vs Maccabi Lions – Under 18 Watford Friendly League Roundup

Score 6-3 win Summary: Another successive win for White Salamis who once again started off very slowly but then towards the middle of the first  managed to get themselves together and play some lovely one touch decisive football. This led to our Man of the match (MOTM) scoring and impressive SIX!!! Goals. Defensively and in the midfield we lost a bit of concentration towards the end which allowed Maccabi a chance to score two more goals.  A very good performance by white Salamis who should all be proud of their individual and team performance  Game Positives: Sam: Another superhuman performance by Sam who is a joy to watch when he has the ball at his feet. Out of the SIX GOALS  he scored the third was one of my favourites where he ran through the opposition team to score the goal. At many times during that passage of play both myself and coach T were screaming for him to use the team for assistance but in all honesty, on this occasion he didn’t need them and squeezed the ball in from the tightest of angles to bag himself a goal. The team played really well and there were some standout individual efforts but Sam was by far the best player on the pitch. Outstanding Sam, well done!!!  Sam.D: Started off very slow and was lacking his usual energy on the pitch but then suddenly out of nowhere Sam sparked into life in the middle of the first half. Sam was everywhere with some lovely one touch football and deadly through balls to Sam not to mention his tenacious and dogged tackling. Sam along with Mo help set the tempo for the rest of the team.  Mohamed (Mo the Magician): Started of slower than usual for Mo and then really started to pick up during the second half. Mo was able to work his magic with his close control and skills to assist the team and amaze the audience. Both he and Sam provide support for each other in that midfield partnership to help the team. No surprise we conceded two goals once Mo came off injured, hopefully it is not too serious. An outstanding performance by Mo well done. Muzzammil (Muz): One of the most technical and consistent players in the team Muz had another outstanding performance and was definitely a MOTM contender. Muz was strong in the challenge and rarely lost the ball. Not to mention his great link up play with Ronnie and Ola. Muz has cemented himself as a first team regular. Michal:  Had a very difficult job covering the left side of the wing but stuck to his task and put in a dogged performance. Michal tired towards the end as he put in one hell of a shift, Well played Michal keep up the good work!!! Ronnie:  Another great performance by Ronnie who was a much need outlet for the defence and for the team.  Ronnie was able to hold the ball up and link play with the midfield defence and forward line to assist the team. The next goal for Ronnie will be to get himself more goal scoring opportunities and to be more clinical in goal. Keep up the good work!!  Max: Help set the right tempo for the rest of the team as usual. I had been playing Max as a centre forward in the past, Max does however, excel in the midfield. Max not only battled hard to gain and keep possession but also composed himself during possession to not lose the ball and make the pass.  Well done Max keep up the good work. Game Issues: Another slow start for the Whites where once gain they have conceded an early goal. The Whites need to make sure they keep their stamina and concentration for the full 90 minutes. It was no surprise we conceded two late goals due to a lack of both of those attributes. However there were many positives to take from this game especially the way we moved the ball in periods, hopefully those periods will become more sustained. Room For Improvement: Walid: Had a good game  and made many important saves during the game. However, he conceded the first goal due to bad positioning inside his goal area. Walid needs to ensure he improves on his positioning to stop long range shots and crosses. Notes: Team needs to be more focused during the pre-match preparation. The team will also need to utilise the training sessions to work on stamina and technique that way they will be more capable to execute during the game. The team all need to be more vocal with their communication and take ownership of their responsibilities on the pitch there is no point in telling someone to mark someone when the individual has not taken the responsibility to mark someone themselves. The narrative should be ‘I have A go and mark B’.

New Salamis Youth FC Round up 19/03/2023

U8s Reds vs St Albans colts blue. Our young reds are continuing to develop and implement what they have been learning in training which is already showing on and off the pitch. Great performance all round. U9s Reds vs Whetstone Wanders are back with a great performance against a strong Whetstone Wanderers who had plenty on chances in the first half.Salamis dominated the second half with some great attacking play and managed to have plenty of fun on the field. Couldn’t be more happy with the teams positive attitude and a great day for Mother’s Day. Dominated the second half with some great attacking play 👍⚽️ U11s Reds vs Maccabi . U11s put in a great winning performance despite the other managers’ constant moaning and accusations we played some nice stuff at times and scored some really good goals and. Solid at the back throughout with numerous players putting in real solid performances U18s Whites vs Maccabi. Another successive win for White Salamis who once again started off very slowly but then towards the middle of the first managed to get themselves together and play some lovely one touch decisive football. This led to our Man of the match (MOTM) Sam O scoring an impressive SIX!!! Goals. Defensively and in the midfield we lost a bit of concentration towards the end which allowed Maccabi a chance to score two more goals.  A very good performance by white Salamis who should all be proud of their individual and team performance If you would like to know more about or join us at New Salamis Youth Football Club please email us at joinus@newsalamisyouthfc.com

New Salamis Reds vs Omonia Youth Whites – Under 18 Cup (Home) Roundup

Score 1-2 (Loss) Summary: A lot of positives to take from this game which was very evenly matched, The Reds rallied and battled against a very physical (sometimes too physical) team. We played some lovely one touch free flowing football, pressed and closed down the opposition when they could but the game came down to one team taking their opportunity in front of goal and the other team not.  Game Positives: Tyler.P ( C ) A.K.A The General: Controlled the midfield and rarely lost the ball.  The midfield has here very talented and hard working individuals but they need to play more as a team. But today Tyler’s performance was stand out. At one point in the game surrounded by three players he was still able to maintain his balance and control of the ball and get out of a very tight situation. Very neat and tidy on the ball with good decision making. All this just coming back from a knee injury, General, I salute you. Michael: A solid performance by Michael who was a MOTM, very comfortable on the ball and pre-emptive to stopping any of the oppositions attacks. Michael was strong in the challenge and rarely gave the opposition a chance to settle. Kept one of the leagues top goal scorers at bay , However Michael needs to learn at time’s to walk away from any altercations with the opposition, losing a player with qualities would defiantly hinder the team. James: Very technical player and a joy to watch, he took the fight to the opposition throughout the game and was very effective down the right wing. Due to the flagging energy levels of the midfield we moved him more in a midfield position where he was not as effective. Thanks for taking one for the team James I know this is not your preferred position. Jamie: The Mr Reliable of the team always turns up for training always there for the game and always brins 100%. Another solid performance by Jaimie being that last line of defence and putting in those vital last ditch challenges, keep up the good work. Matteo: Tireless professional who work hard both in training and during the game. Matteo uncharacteristically did not take his chance as usual but as usual was in the right place to get the chances. Matteo is strong, technical and quick but can really too much on flicks and tricks instead of trusting his instincts and using his natural ability. Less is more as the saying goes. Jaden: Works hard as always and always give a 100%. Jaiden put in another solid performance and pretty much covered every blade of the 3G Pitch. As discussed earlier this was a good individual performance by the midfielder.  Dylain: An exceptional young man both on and off the field played with every once of energy and skill he had but took on too much responsibility and need to use the team and his midfield team mates more. Brian: Tried his best during this game but was not able to get on the ball enough to make a difference and carve out his usual opportunities, Brian’s like Matteo’s efforts have not gone unnoticed keep up the hard work boy’s next week we go again. Andoni: Welcome back from injury, it’s been a while  Game Outlook : Not too many area’s we could have done better on from today’s game. Super proud of the effort put in from the team we did out best. Reds showcased their skill, stamina and determination. Even though we lost we can still take a lot of pride from the performance. I would like to see better cohesion and communication between Jaden, Tyler and Dylain who are clearly very talented individuals this is something that can be worked on during training. Up front we did miss some opportunities which can be crucial when you are playing these types of games and the teams are so evenly matched. Everyone should be proud of their performance well done team. Notes: Although it is near spring time it has been very cold players need to think about wearing some form of body armour compression tops and pants to help keep the muscles warm and stop injury. Please arrive on time for the match and training to ensure you have gone through the proper warm up process to reduce the chance of injury. Remember to stay hydrated during training and during the game.

New Salamis White vs Edmonton Rangers Lions Under 18 Cup (Home) Roundup

Score 5-2 (Win) Summary: Another slow start by the White Salamis which lead to the opposition taking full advantage by gaining a 0-2 lead. But a net buster of a goal by Sam Ornadel which was well worth the admission or attendance fee (if we had one) alone,  rallied the whites to rise like a phoenix out of the ashes and sail to a well-earned and well-deserved victory.  Game Positives: Sam.O: A 5 star performance by Sam who is happiest when he has the ball at his feet and he is running at the opposition that joy of expression filters through to those who watch Sam who has an unerring ability to glide past players with unnatural ease. You would think that would be all but it is not Sam has a cannon of a strike that helps to give his dribbling skills an end product. Sam was defiantly the catalyst that helped to spark this team into life. Great work Sam a very well deserved MOTM award for today’s game. Marlon : This team desperately needed a striker and boy did we get one. Marlon answered all our prayers in one game and was very much a MOTM. He was a focal point for our team and rarely missed any of the opportunities he was given. He gave the opposition no ends of concerns and bagged a brace for all his efforts, a very solid shift by our front man who showcased his array of talents and also helped the team over the line to victory.  Mohamed (Mo the Magician): Not yet back to his majestic best, this was a different side of the magician who had top battle hard and put in challenges. Good to see Mo putting his body in front of the ball and making  it hard for the opposition to get time and space. With all that being said Mo was still able to be in the right place at the right time and bag himself a goal. Well done Mo!! Muzzammil (Muz): Another solid performance by Muz who is easily one of the teams most consistent players. Hard in the challenge and great at linking play with the wingers or the midfield. When on the ball Muz rarely loses possession and always seems capable of finding the right pass. Muz today also put himself as a contender for MOTM but just feel slightly short to Sam. Great work Muz.  Ronnie: Ronnie is improving week by week and is starting to make the right wing position his own. Ronnie is very good at holding up the ball and bringing players in. Unlike Sam on the other wing I would like to see him attack the opposition more and have more shots on goal. It is very encouraging to see Ronnies progress keep up the good work Ronnie. Max: Max played in the midfield which is a deeper role than usual, however, Max still applied his usual energy and conviction to encourage and inspire his team mates and gave every last drop of his heart and energy to the team. Another solid performance Max well done!! Game Issues: White Salamis midfield need to have better communication and cohesion. One of the strengths of this team is it’s togetherness which could clearly been seen in our warm up. That same level of togetherness is sometimes not replicated on the pitch. The team needs to apply simple one touch passing to help the ball to move quicker around the pitch and create space. I would also like to see the Whites use the width of the pitch to help release our wingers and attack the opposition. Room For Improvement: Oli: Had moments where he affected the play by spraying a wide ball to Ronnie, however he did not do that that much on the game. A mistake by Oli where he held on to the ball too long and got dispossessed, allowed the opposition to advance through our midfield and catch our defence off guard which led to a goal. Oli did start to grow more into the position as the game went on and defiantly started to affect play but he need to do this from the first whistle. As always Oli feel s a huge responsibility for the team which is why he is the captain but as the captain Oli has to trust his team. Luke: There were some nervous moments for both Luke and Furkhan as centre backs, as they are both new to this position that is understandable. I am hoping that they will have a better understanding of their role and working with each other as the season progresses. Furkhan: Has shown promise is his position. Furkhan is usually decisive and assured in this position but today showed moments of hesitation. Perhaps this is due to the pressure from the opposition during this match. Furkhan needs to have more confidence in himself and his abilities and ensure that no matter who the opposition is he plays his game with confidence and does not loose focus. Michal: Normally very dependable and consistent in this position throughout the season. Like Furkhan Michal had a nervous game due to the physicality of the opposition. This forced him to make some unforced errors. Michal has been very consistent in this position and needs to trust in his own abilities and not be intimidated by the opposition.  Sam: Needs to be more affective as a midfielder from the first whistle, Sam is a very technical player who also has the ability to press and tackle the opposition however, sometimes there is not that awareness of where he should be positionally in the team  which leads to Sam feeling demotivated. I have seen moments where Sam will provide that energy and affect the play but he need to do this more often. Injuries: David: Knee injury, David suffered an knee injury from a bad challenge by the opposition. After coming back from a ankle injury David has been delt another cruel blow by injuring his knee, hopefully it is not

New Salamis Youth FC Round up 12/03/2023

There were some very good performances from all New Salamis teams this week regardless of the scoreline. U8s Reds vs St Albans colts blue. Our young reds are continuing to develop and implement what they have been learning in training which is already showing on and off the pitch. Great performance all round. U11s Reds vs Maccabi . Performance was good today. We take away a lot of positives. the boys executed a lot of what they have been working on in training. U13 Reds vs Elite Borehamwood A very close game resulting in a 2-1 loss. A much better performance as a team, but lack of composure in front of goal cost us today. U13s White vs Whetstone Panthers, Another fantastic result for the boys who played a very strong pass and move attacking game, this is our second victory against Whetstone, 5.0 win sees us sitting 6 points clear and still in first position, we still have a few teams to play twice but our fixtures have all been higher end of the table so far and we are looking for the rest of the season, proud to hear the opposition linesman say we have a great organised team and he is routing for us to lift the title this season. Todays goals form Hussein Aldreby 1, Jemiah Edwards 3, Kayden Nyanzi 1 with Assists from Huseyin-Emre Denizer 2, Adam Choudhury 1, Kayden 1, Alex Mittas 1. 13 games, 11 wins, 2 draws, 0 loses so far. Man of the match the captain H, Huseyin-Emre U18s Whites vs Edmonton Rangers Another slow start by the White Salamis which lead to the opposition taking full advantage by gaining a 0-2 lead. But a net buster of a goal by Sam Ornadel which was well worth the attendance fee (if we had one) alone, rallied the whites to rise like a phoenix out of the ashes and sail to a well-earned and well-deserved victory 5-2 win against a team that is in the division above. MOM Sam O U18s Reds vs Omonia Whites . A lot of positives to take from this game which was very evenly matched, Reds rallied and battled against a very physical (sometimes too physical) team. Red Salamis played some lovely one touch free flowing football. Pressed and closed down the opposition when they could, but the game came down to one team taking their opportunity in front of goal and the other team not. Losing 2-1 and dumping the reds out of the cup.  Coach Jay was super proud of the boys today for the effort put in. MOM Michael M

New Salamis Youth FC Round up 05/03/2023

Our U8s and 9s had a week off U11s Reds vs Club SFC Very hard fought game for the U11s this week they overcome the challenge and are showing some great togetherness in their first season U13s Whites vs St Albans City East 2-0 win. Another positive result for the K and Muzzy boys who ran their socks off today and played a very good controlled & passing game, opposition played very good and matched the boys during the first half, second half it was pretty much all Salamis we kept the pressure on and saw 2 great goals from the boys keeping our unbeaten run alive. Goals by our top defender Julian followed by our left winger baller Kayden, with two equally nice assists from Adam & Huseyin-Emre. Our defence are putting in a great shift week in week out. The boys moral is super high and humble, the positive behaviour towards each other and the opposition was perfect from our boys. U13s Reds vs Hinton & Finchley 3-1 loss but played some really lovely football and starting to show real improvement over the last few weeks. We missed a penalty that would have took the game to 2 – 2. While pushing for a equaliser we conceded a late goal. Overall really pleased with the progress over the last few weeks. U18s Whites vs Mill Hill Broadway A 4-1 loss for an out of sorts U18s White who are struggling without a No 9. Playing on very uneven pitch. However, Mill Hill Broadway had no trouble adapting . After a very slow start White Salamis found it hard to find any momentum and found passing and dribbling on the surface very difficult. A lot of the game was lost due to  the excellent set plays by the opposition to score from corners and free kicks. We conceded a penalty midway through the first half and found it difficult to recover after that. There was no cohesion, communication of enthusiasm from the White’s during this game which was very disappointing. There were a few bright moments in the game from the boy but nowhere near enough to deserve to win this game. MOM Sam U18s Reds vs Alythe Belize1-0 win for the Reds who are unbeaten in 5. A very good defensive performances today Jayson Sinclair Menzies U18s Reds. We scored after 20 mins from a well worked corner with Tyler C heading in from close range. Reds found the opponents keeper in fine form who made a number good saves. MOM Nelson. Lot of positive – First clean sheet of the season and we created a lot of scoring opportunities. Overall lots of positives to take away from the game.
