New Salamis Youth Match Round up 21 – 2023/2024

U14 Reds: Reds beat a difficult AFC Southgate 8-2. A slow start to the game but the boys settled and went into a 2-0 lead. Complacency kicked in and the opposition scored two to level before half time. However following the break, the boys consolidated and were rampant in the 2nd half scoring 6 goals and even missing a penalty. The Reds march on another step closer to the title. A very deserved win in the rain. U14 Whites : Played top of the table had them on ropes held a 1.1 draw for a long time but again last 10 or so mins they took the lead 3.1 loss this time but proud. Happy to see coach J for a while thanks mate. Currently at Crystal Palace academy as 3 of our salamis boys play palace with PSG. Gassed x U16s Reds Reds lost to Pro Elite 0-7. Just managed to get 11 players today and then only 7 out of the 11 working hard. Really felt for those boys that did turn up and put in 100%. 4-0 down at half time. Second half was much better but very little going forward so we ended up soaking the pressure and conceding another 3. Really disappointed some players today who let their team mates down. U16s Whites: Lost 3 – 2 to HMH Tigers.Pretty poor game, 3 mistakes led to their 3 goals and we scored 2 long shots. Frustrating as we are not doing the basic and this is costing us games.. More work on the training ground it is!!

U13s: drew 2-2. After a good first 15 minutes, we let in two soft goals, going in 2-0 down at halftime. In the second half, we had a battling and spirited second half where we scored two excellent goals: a long range by Liam and a run by Darragh from CB, beating four players and slotting it in the bottom corner. We had numerous chances to win it and almost nearly nicked it at the end for only the crossbar to save the opposition.🔴⚪️. U13’s lost 3-2; we were the better team in the first half, taking an early lead with a great finish by Harry. More mistakes let them back into the game with two quick-fire goals, going in 2-1 down at halftime. In the second half, we upped the tempo, and a long-range goal by Sammie brought it back to 2-2. We couldn’t find the third goal and knew we were going to run out of chances, but the ball wouldn’t go in. A controversial goal at the end, where the player was 2 yards offside, sealed the win for the opposition. If we buried our chances, the game would have been a comfortable win. There are a lot of positives to take out of the game, but we need to cut out the mistakes.. 🔴⚪️ U14s Reds : New Salamis U14 Reds won a thrilling match today. The title chasing team went 4-0 down within the first 15 mins. They regrouped but went into half time with the score remaining the same. They boys came out for the 2nd half like a team possessed and won the game 5-4 with a late goal. Mo scored 3 and Isaiah 2. Unbelievable !!!! 5-4 win and a step closer to a great end to the season New Salamis U14 Reds beat St Albans 4-2 in a top of the table clash. The reds raced ahead into a two goal lead with goals from Isaiah and Mo. They went into the interval 2 goals ahead. The boys scored early into the second half to make it 3-1 with Isaiah getting his 2nd goal. A lovely solo run and finish. St Albans replied quickly but the boys stayed resilient and finished the game off with Miles scoring a lovely goal. Exciting end to the season ahead. 4-2 👏🏻 U14s Whites: U14 Spring Plate – Great game today for both teams, we arrived with a man down and played a very strong competitive battle, from 1.0 up to allowing x2 simple goals in, 1.1 and then 1.2 down at half time, I feel we played some amazing football at times but couldn’t take the many chances we created. Second half both teams came out strong again bringing it back to 2.2 followed by a little blunder where a goal kick hit our defender and hit the back of the net. Game ended in a 2.3 loss but we deffo dominated the opportunities. Well done to everyone today. We still desperately need players to add value to the team so please think of us if you know anyone. New Salamis Youth U14 White: 2 – St Albans City East: 3 Borhamwood Elites vs New Salamis U14 white. – Full size adult pitch as well. What an amazing performance from our 10 man squad today, we played the top of the table and gave them the best game they have ever had this season, we took the lead 2.0 which has not happened to them before in the group and a saved penalty by Hermann, came out at half time 2.1 to us and the second half was even more exciting, opposition managed to bring it back to 2.2 and unfortunately for us with no subs they managed to break through a tired salamis in the last 10 or so minutes of the game. Opposition said it was the best game they had been involved in with a strong 10 man Salamis Team. I personally prised every single opposition player, and their parents praised our boys at the end for the battle. Well done all. Man of the match GK Hermann Steiner. Game ended 3.2 to Elites. We are still very proud of the boys for this game.

U10s: won 2-1 today was a good battle again Afc Southgate lads played really well. Definitely showing signs of progress U11s: 1-1 draw we are getting there very strong performance against a big side some quality performances! U12s: went down 3-2 against Borehamwood. we were not our usual best today and face a tough game next week against the league leaders. Hopefully we can get it right U13s: lost 3-1 today against a tough Highgate team. Excellent end to end game going in leading 1-0 at Half Time. Missing our whole back 4 today, we battled from the first whistle to the last. They showed real character and determination and never gave up. Really proud of the boys 👍🏻. U14s Reds: won 8 – 1 today after a sloppy start. Once we got our equalizer from Mo started to play football and went in at half time with a goal from georgio to Finnish of the first half 2 -1 from then on Mo bagged in 5 goals followed by a worldy goal from Kaan to Finnish of a great day for the boys⚪️🔴 U18s lost 1-2 To Highgate Unit. We had possession for most of the game and when we equalised early in the second half I was sure we were going to go on and win the game. However we were unable to take our chances and conceded an unexpected goal when our defender was fouled by Highgates forward an went on to score with no intervention by the referee. We played some great football and did not deserve to lose, however if you don’t take your chances you get punished.

U10s: Lost 5-3. Boys played well. It was 3-3 right up until last minutes of game where the opposition managed to get 2 against us and go on to win the game U11s: lost 2-0 we was very dominant throughout the game just couldn’t finish our chances despite create loads but overall good performance loads of positives U12s: drew 4-4 against Omonia. we started the game badly missing our skipper who was carrying an injury from last week, and we quickly went 2-0 down, conceding 2 bad goals. With our skipper back on the pitch, we pulled back to 2-2 at half time with a spirited comeback. Onto the 2nd half and again, we found ourselves behind 3-2 again, conceding poorly fault back to 3-3 only to down again once more, gifting them a 4th. But fair credit to the boys coming back once again to 4-4 them had 1 disallowed and a few other chances to take the game. But a drew most a fair result U13s: U13’s lost 14-0 against a tough Winchmore Hill (league leaders which have won 11 out 12 this season, which IMO should be 2 divisions above). After a positive start to the game, we were excellent for the first 15 mins and held our game and battled. They scored a lucky goal to make it 1-0 then some simple mistakes gifting them a few goals b4 half time. Second half was tough as they upped there game, no fight or effort from the team today making it easy for the opposition to play. A flattering result for them and the opposition manager came and spoke to me after the game and praised 4 of our players which were excellent. Onto the next game. U14s Reds: Under 14s Reds lost 5-1 to Alyth Belsize. We competed well against the team who is a league above and the score line doesn’t really reflect the match. We went 1-0 behind early on but equalised immediately. We went in half time 2-1 down and restarted the game poorly once again. We quickly went 3-1 down and then eventually lost 5-1. Our goalkeeper made a couple of bad errors that led to goals. We also missed a golden chance, hit the woodwork twice and their keeper pulled off two great saves (one was unbelievable). Some things to think over for improvement. U14s: U14 whites played in the spring plate against Alexandra park south and won 5-1 The boys battled from the off, still only 11 players and on a little bigger pitch that we are use to but we gave it our all. Positivity wins games. Goal scorers todayAdam ✔️Erald M ✔️ assist JulianHussein ✔️ assist AdamH-Emre ✔️ assist Erald LJulian ✔️ assist Hussein U16s: U16s white lost 6 nil to AC finchley west. Not a good performance. GK didn’t have one his good days which happens and he will pick himself up for sure . Opponents run into an early 3 goal lead & boys dropped their heads. Ended the last 30mins of the game with 10 ,as serious injuries have left us v short. Key players missing U16 Reds: lost 8-3 to Bloomsbury. First game this year so took a 20 mins to get into the game. Was 2-1 down 10 mins before half time then 3 poor goals from poor mistakes. HT we went in 5-1 down.2nd half they were awarded a penalty after what looked like a player got shot, didn’t see any contact. Another 2 goals from mistakes at the back made it 8-1. Boys then decided to play and brought it back to 8-3 (should have been more) as they dominated the final 20 mins of the second half. Was tough as we are missing two of our best players and only had 12 on the day. Boys showed good character to pick things up in the second half but still a disappointing scoreline which was of our own making. U18s Midweek: U18s lost 1-0 to Barnet FC u18s last tonight from an own goal !! 😫 Decent performance from the boys just needed to be clinical in front of goal – first half 4 opportunities to score with just the keeper to beat!! Second half we was a under a lot of pressure and couldn’t break down the strong Barnet defence. Outstanding performance was Taurian (GK) saved a penalty and made 5 really good saves.

U9s: Good win for the U9’s against AFC Southgate U10s: U10 drew 5-5 came back from 4-1 at half time started off slow should have won , but proud of the Boys for their determination to pull it back to a draw U11s: lost 2-1 to Hinton and Finchley legends – Battled very well came out unlucky starting to gel as a team properly! U12s: Well, what can I say about todays u12 game winning 2-0 with 6 mins left to go. Superb victory and keeps us in the front of the pack U14s Reds: lost 5-3 to Borehamwood Crusaders in the Spring Cup. We played a team in the league above but still very disappointed because we gave some very poor goals away. Shouldn’t be losing to that team. Anyway, it’s happened, we learn and move on 👍🏻 U14s: 10 man U14 White Vs Hinton & FinchleyA group above us and beat us 5-1 before, spring plate and we literally went for it from the off. We won 2.1 today. An amazing feeling for our boys. U16s: U16s white lost 1-0 at Whetstone. Whetstone top of the league (and will likely win it) thought they would walk all over us but we put in a superb performance & battled from first to last minute.Whetstone lost their heads, a few of their players were frustrated & despite the scoreline, we left heads held high whilst they got a bollocking from their manager. Huge improvement and very proud of the boys. 👍🏼⚽️ U18s Reds: U18s midweek lost 4-2 to Brentwood town – but some positives with several new faces putting in good performances. We play Barnet FC at his Wednesday which will be a good test. U18s Sunday lost 2-0 . sloppy defending and lack of communication from our keeper cost is today. Second half it was all us but just we just couldn’t find away past there keeper

New Salamis Youth Match Round up 14 – 2023/2024 –

U10s: U10s without a keeper today who wasn’t feeling too well . One of our outfield players started in goal, we dominated the game for first 15 min then conceded , boys dropped their heads instantly and pretty much handed them the victory . U12s: U12s went down 4-3 in a thrilling cup game against APY, who are a division or 2 above us. We took the lead directly from a corner but unfortunately went in 2-1 down, giving away a sloppy goal and a pen. We pulled it back to 2-2 midway through the 2nd half, only to give away another pen to go 3-2 down. But i was so proud of the boys who, with stood a barage from our opponents from then till the end of the game, went 4-2 down, then straight from the restart pulled 1 back with my left winger completing his hatrick but it just wasn’t to be. Super proud of the effort showed from my team U14s Reds: Under 14 Reds lost 5-0 in the Middlesex Cup QF to Richmond and Hampton. The Reds started slowly but picked up. However they gave 2-0 poor goals away which made it veey difficult against a very good team. We conceded a 3rd just before half time that made it a mountain to climb. A further two goals were conceded in the second half to seal the boys fate. A lethargic start after the festive period but the best team won on the day. No complaint. We dust ourselves off, regroup and go again next week. U18s Reds: U18s lost 4-2.No keeper and just the 11 players. 2-2 with 5 mins left with 3 player unable to run. Little gutted for the boys . I would have been happy with a draw today. They battle well but not having any subs killed us. James and Sam goal scorers. James scoring a brillant free kick.

New Salamis Youth Match Round up 13 – 2023/2024

Girls Team Girls had their 2nd friendly this week , we started really strong and went into a good lead. Made some changes at half time as we are still working out the best formation and our strongest team which did change the game in favour of the opponents , but good effort from the girls U9s Whites: U9s had their worst against a Whetstone team, the score line flatters their ability. We just did not turn up today and everything was sloppy. The top division takes no prisoners! The boys will learn from it. U10s: A good win against London Colney pumas to go in to the new year on a high proud of the boys U12s: U12s won 4-0 against AFC Southgate. We were dominant from start to finish all across the pitch. The perfect way to sign off the year U14s Reds: Under 14s Red had a massive top of the table clash with AC Finchley today. The Reds started slow but got into gear and raced into a two goal lead from Georgio and Isaiah. AC Finchley probed and pulled one back to make it 2-1. However a wonderful free kick from Theo put the reds 3-1 up just before half time. A good start to the second half saw the boys pull further ahead 5-1 with two more goals from Isaiah to clinch his hat-trick. AC Finchley pulled to more goals back, one from a penalty. It was a bit nervy but Miles scored a couple of goals to complete the scoring and to win the game. 7-3 win to Salamina U18s Reds U18 won 4-1 – comfortable win for the boys. Played a bit more attacking and moved players around which did leave us open to the counter attack – overall very pleased with the performance on a poor pitch. U18 won 4-0 against Whetstone which moves us up to 4th with 4 games in hand over the 1st and 3rd placed teams. M.Menzies with a hat-trick who’s has been moved up to play as a striker. – some good football in spells. 3rd goal was well worked from defence to attacking with Muz scoring his first goal of the season.Outstanding displays from Ola and Aaron The New Salamis age groups displayed resilience, improvement, and moments of brilliance Despite challenges, each team continues to learn and grow, with an optimistic outlook for the future fixtures. Onward to more positive results in the next matches!

New Salamis Reds vs Omonia Youth Whites – Under 18 Cup (Home) Roundup

Score 1-2 (Loss) Summary: A lot of positives to take from this game which was very evenly matched, The Reds rallied and battled against a very physical (sometimes too physical) team. We played some lovely one touch free flowing football, pressed and closed down the opposition when they could but the game came down to one team taking their opportunity in front of goal and the other team not.  Game Positives: Tyler.P ( C ) A.K.A The General: Controlled the midfield and rarely lost the ball.  The midfield has here very talented and hard working individuals but they need to play more as a team. But today Tyler’s performance was stand out. At one point in the game surrounded by three players he was still able to maintain his balance and control of the ball and get out of a very tight situation. Very neat and tidy on the ball with good decision making. All this just coming back from a knee injury, General, I salute you. Michael: A solid performance by Michael who was a MOTM, very comfortable on the ball and pre-emptive to stopping any of the oppositions attacks. Michael was strong in the challenge and rarely gave the opposition a chance to settle. Kept one of the leagues top goal scorers at bay , However Michael needs to learn at time’s to walk away from any altercations with the opposition, losing a player with qualities would defiantly hinder the team. James: Very technical player and a joy to watch, he took the fight to the opposition throughout the game and was very effective down the right wing. Due to the flagging energy levels of the midfield we moved him more in a midfield position where he was not as effective. Thanks for taking one for the team James I know this is not your preferred position. Jamie: The Mr Reliable of the team always turns up for training always there for the game and always brins 100%. Another solid performance by Jaimie being that last line of defence and putting in those vital last ditch challenges, keep up the good work. Matteo: Tireless professional who work hard both in training and during the game. Matteo uncharacteristically did not take his chance as usual but as usual was in the right place to get the chances. Matteo is strong, technical and quick but can really too much on flicks and tricks instead of trusting his instincts and using his natural ability. Less is more as the saying goes. Jaden: Works hard as always and always give a 100%. Jaiden put in another solid performance and pretty much covered every blade of the 3G Pitch. As discussed earlier this was a good individual performance by the midfielder.  Dylain: An exceptional young man both on and off the field played with every once of energy and skill he had but took on too much responsibility and need to use the team and his midfield team mates more. Brian: Tried his best during this game but was not able to get on the ball enough to make a difference and carve out his usual opportunities, Brian’s like Matteo’s efforts have not gone unnoticed keep up the hard work boy’s next week we go again. Andoni: Welcome back from injury, it’s been a while  Game Outlook : Not too many area’s we could have done better on from today’s game. Super proud of the effort put in from the team we did out best. Reds showcased their skill, stamina and determination. Even though we lost we can still take a lot of pride from the performance. I would like to see better cohesion and communication between Jaden, Tyler and Dylain who are clearly very talented individuals this is something that can be worked on during training. Up front we did miss some opportunities which can be crucial when you are playing these types of games and the teams are so evenly matched. Everyone should be proud of their performance well done team. Notes: Although it is near spring time it has been very cold players need to think about wearing some form of body armour compression tops and pants to help keep the muscles warm and stop injury. Please arrive on time for the match and training to ensure you have gone through the proper warm up process to reduce the chance of injury. Remember to stay hydrated during training and during the game.

New Salamis Reds vs St Gregories United Under 18 Watford Friendly League (Home) Roundup

New Red Salamis vs St Gregories United Under 18 Watford Friendly League (Home) Roundup By Coach Horace & Jayson Score 4-4 (Draw) Summary: A slow start by Salamis Reds with goals conceded early in both halves. Which did not help the teams cause. A few lapses in concentration defensively also made the team pay a price with conceding another goal. We showed our resilience and our will to win by coming away with a draw. Had their goalkeeper not had had such a fantastic game we would have for sure have come away with the win. Game Positives: Dylain : Came on late in the first half and gave an overrun midfield much needed support. As well as being dogged and committed in the challenges against the opposition (despite his ankle). He also added an attacking option and manged to bag a brace to help the team to a draw. Well done!! P.S the first goal was amazing. Caleb: SAVED A PENALTY!!! This was not the only plus point of his game his ball distribution was very much improved and he seemed to grow more and more with confidence during the game. But above all he did save a penalty which enabled us to get a well-earned point. Andoni: Firstly, welcome back Andoni. Andoni came on and played direct football and took the fight to the opposition with some very positive runs on goal. Great to see him back and on form. Michael: Played well as a centre back even though it is not his preferred position. Was able to pre-empt and intercept the opposition threat before it began. Very strong in the tackle with good ball distribution. He was not able to affect the game as much in the midfield but worked hard for the team. Theo: Worked hard for the team and although being outnumbered on many an occasion on the right battled hard for the team and as well as carrying the ball out of danger was also strong in the challenge when the opposition attacked. Really worked hard for the team and put in a tremendous effort. Brian: Really starting to show consistency up front with the second goal in as many games. No doubting Brian’s amazing technical ability on the ball and his ability to create space for the shot when there isn’t any. We would like to see Brian be more confident and try to win the ball during those 50:50 challenges. Another solid performance again. Matteo: Really starting to show consistency as well and although he did not influence the game as he had done previously still showed that determination and drive that eventually rewarded himself and the team a goal. Tyler: (Aka the General): Tyler was a frustrated figure in the first half and was unable to put his usual commanding stamp on the game. Frustrated with the lack of support from the midfield he was uncharacteristically unable to galvanise and rally the troops. As usual, undeterred, he regrouped and lead the team in the second half, well done sir, I commend your mental toughness. Be sure to be vocal and let your team know what you want from them during the game and always offer encouragement and support that way you will be certain to be heard. Game Issues: Once again we were too slow to start and not only from the start of the first half but from the start of the second half which cost us two goals. The team needs to be keen and aware of the early dangers from the opposition and to not concede and leave themselves a mountain to climb. Their needs to be better communication amongst the team, their were individual bits of brilliance today but not enough of a team performance their needs to be more cohesion as a team, by working as a team we will get improved results. We would like to see the team moving the ball better. Too many players tried to do too much out of frustration instead of trusting their teammates to assist. Room For Improvement: Nelson: One minor error during the game. Nelson is always committed to the team and always gives his best. Nelson can sometimes have lapses of concentration which forces an error and undoes all of his hard work. We would like to see Nelson be more composed on the ball and not rush the pass or clearance. Match Ratings : Nelson 7 Michael 8 Jaden 8 Jamie 7 James 8 Matteo 9 Jeron 7 Tyler P 8 Brian 9 Theo 8 Caleb 9 Prince 7 Dylain 8 Marlon 7 Andoni 7
