New Salamis Youth FC Round up 16/04/2023

U8s Reds Put in a great battle against the side who sit in the top division (two above us). Boys put in a really good shift and battled hard to keep it to that score line. We were unlucky today U11s Reds vs Whetstone Wanderers Drew in a very good match against a strong Whetstone Wanderers team that thumped us at the beginning of the season. Earning praise from the WW coach U18s Reds vs Whitewebbs 13-0 Victory for Red army. New Salamis were in control from the first whistle and remained in the driving seat throughout the duration of the game. The opposition had no answer for the New Salamis onslaught and were probably grateful for the final whistle. We played some great free flowing football with some outstanding finishes from the team. Jaden’s goal was probably the most outstanding of the lot for me where he ran through most of the team to score from defence 👍🏿. New Salamis Whites vs HMH – Under 18 Watford Friendly League Roundup

Score 3-3 Another draw for White Salamis who battled  hard but were unable to hold out for the win due to lapses of concentration at the back which was probably brought on by fatigue. Sam had ANOTHER OUSTANDING performance bagging himself ANOTHER HAT-TRICK. There were some good passages of play by the White Salamis but at times we lost our shape and held on the ball too long which caused us to work harder instead of letting the ball do the work.  Game Positives: Sam : At the moment he can’t stop scoring. Some of the angles at which he scores his goals defy the laws of physics and reason. An unbelievable talent and a very much deserved MOTM award again. Remember to hold your position in the centre Sam and don’t drift to much out too much to the left.  Jaden : Only just pipped to the post by Sam for MOTM for this game. Jaden broke up the opposition attack with strong challenges and distributed the ball to the team with nice one touch passing. Jaden covered every blade of grass on the pitch effectively and was never out of position. Fatigued towards the end by his herculean efforts he had to go off and after that White Salamis struggled without his presence. Well done Jaden and thank you. Jerone his commitment and his energy. Jerone was strong in the challenge and pre-emptive of danger. There was a point where Jerone single handed ran through most of the opposition team and almost scored a goal with the ball hitting the outside of the post.  There are times where Jerone can become frustrated and want to do too much by himself for the team which means he loses possession.  Michael : An outstanding defensive performance by Michael, strong in the challenge and assured on the ball. Michaels ability to turn defence into attack was a real asset to the team. Michael rarely lost the ball in possession and was able to make the right pass to help White Salamis in attack. Michal:  Another consistent performance by Michal who was strong in the challenge pre-empted danger and EVEN did a few give and go overlaps to receive the ball. This was another good performance by Michal marred slightly by the mix up between himself and Luke to concede the goal. Ronnie:  Struggled during the game but persevered to have a few shots on goal and work the keeper. Ronnie at the beginning of the game lost possession a few times by trying to beat his marker instead of releasing the ball early  and getting into space to receive it. Towards the middle of the first half Ronnie found a way to get past his man and deliver the ball to Sam our centre forward for him to have a shot on goal. Ronnie also manged to cut in inside to have a few shots on goal himself. Going forward this is the kind of direct football that I want to see more of from Ronnie. The second half Ronnie played out of position in the midfield and therefore found it more difficult to affect the game. Dylain : Distributed the ball well for White Salamis. Dylain is an incredible technical footballer. His ability to hold up the ball, dribble pass players and find that defence splitting pass is a thing of beauty. There were times where from a deep midfield position he was able to switch the play to our wingers for them to go on the attack which was very effective. However, he can be guilty of taking on too much responsibility and not using his teammates at times. Dylain sometimes needs to trust his teammates more even if some of them do not possess his incredible ability. Thank you for all your efforts Dylain very much appreciated. Jamie : Another solid performance by Jaimie, Jaimie’s ability to detect and neutralise the attacking threat helped the team when under threat from the opposition.  Game Issues: The fact that a lot of first team members were unavailable, also, that there has not been much football played in the previous weeks due to bad weather. White Salamis started to fatigue towards the end of the game which lead to the defensive errors for the opposition to draw the game. Although disjointed it was a spirited performance by the Whites who had we had taken previous chances would have gone on to win the game. Room For Improvement: Notes: I acknowledge that there was not sufficient time for the team to properly warm up for this game as one home game was quickly followed by another. This lack of preparation is what may have led to fatigue latter on.  The fact that a lot of White Salamis players missing. means there was not the usual cohesion Although improved we still need to work more on corners and moving the ball more quickly up the pitch.

New Salamis Reds vs Edmonton Rangers – Under 18 (Home) Watford Friendly Roundup

Score 5-2 (win) Summary: Due to the lack of numbers by Edmonton Rangers who were unable to field a full team at the start of the game. This was more of a training exercise to work on techniques and for the team to experiment and try new things as well as using the old methods and tactics and perfecting them. The opportunity was missed by the team who had a very disjointed performance with many players leaving frustrated even though the team won. Game Positives: Jaden: The lynchpin of the team. Jaiden is getting better and better. Jaden made the game look effortless by doing the hard the hard graft for the team and playing quick simple passes to move the ball up filed effectively. Jaden as always was strong in the challenge but once in possession of the ball found the right pass. It is great as a coach to see his progress and his development of his technique where his efforts are now being rewarded by smart on field play highlighting his progression as a player. I think the next stage in his development is to make those defence splitting passes or to switch the play from left to right. Well done Jaden a tremendous effort and a well-deserved MOTM award. Jaimie: One of the unsung heroes of the team. There are many games where Jaimie makes those critical challenges that save the team. Very dependable and hardworking and is able to pre-empt danger and intercept it. Jaimie has very good reading of the game which has helped the team when the opposition is bearing down on the goal.  Although not stretched in this game he did what was required of him. Michael: He loves to play in the midfield, but is EXCEPTIONAL as a centre back. Always strong in the challenge no matter the size of the opposition he will match their physicality. As well as this he is very composed on the ball and is able to bring the ball forward to link the midfield. Today he was also to bag himself two goals one from a corner which was nice to see our coaching on set pieces paying off.  There was an altercation during the match between Michael and the an opposition team member. If Michael can avoid these incidents in his game he and the team will benefit. Definitely a MOTM contender with today’s performance. Nelson: One of the most intense committed and hard working members of the team a man of action and very few words. ALWAYS works hard for the team. Today he made very few errors and was one of the star players of the team. Today Nelson was strong in the challenge and made the right decisions. Keep up the good work. It was a frustrating game for Nelson and the team but both he and the team still needs to remain positive and offer positive words of encouragement. Matteo: Always wanting to improve and be better and once again unsurprisingly on the score sheet. Matteo is devasting when he is direct and attacks the opposition. Today he cut a frustrated figure by being unable to beat the oppositions offside traps due to them playing a high line. Matteo will  need to find space and bend his runs in order to beat the offside trap in the future. This is something we can work on in training. Dylain: An incredible technical hardworking talent who unsurprisingly took advantage of the opposition lack of number to help himself to a goal. I heard him offer encouragement to Jaden and Andoni but I did not see the midfield gel together as a team. Obviously Tyler was missing today due to injury which did not help things. However, there have been many individual performance by the midfield but not enough of a collective effort which is something we have wanted to see as coaching because the midfield individually are so talented. Game Issues: The victory was assured from the first kick of the ball during the match, however due to lack of cohesion the team were not able to take full advantage of this opportunity. Even though there were limited numbers from the opposition and Red Salamis were wining there was a clear frustration from the team where were of criticism instead of encouragement  were used by the team on a whole. Going forward how the team communicates needs to change. Room For Improvement: Communication was clearly an issue in the game. The communication by the whole team needs to be more positive and less critical. This may also couple with the bonding and cohesion of the team because if there is not effective encouragement being communicated by the team how are they going to be able to play as a team. Going forward this needs to be addressed, against a full strength Edmonton Rangers team the result may well have been different based on today’s performance.

New Salamis Youth FC Round up 04/04/2023

Another week of horrendous rain in North london causing the U8-U9s and the U13s Derby games to be called off. Both U18s games went ahead aster games are now played on 3G. U18s White vs Highgate Muswell Hill 3-3- Friendly Another draw for White Salamis who battled  hard, but were unable to hold out for the win due to lapses of concentration at the back which was probably brought on by fatigue. Sam had ANOTHER OUSTANDING performance bagging himself ANOTHER HAT-TRICK. There were some good passages of play by the White Salamis but at times we lost our shape and held on the ball too long which caused us to work harder instead of letting the ball do the work. BIG thanks to Red Salamis team members who assisted the whites and played almost 180 MINUTES of football with back to back games. Thank you guys your efforts were very much appreciated. SAM MOM U18s Reds vs Edmonton Rangers – 5-2 Won for the reds Due to the lack of numbers by Edmonton Rangers who were only able to field 7 players this was more of a training exercise to work on techniques and for the team to experiment and try new things as well as using the old methods and tactics and perfecting them. The opportunity was missed by the team who had a very disjointed performance with many players leaving frustrated even though the team won.
