New Salamis Youth Match Round up 14 – 2023/2024 –

U10s: U10s without a keeper today who wasn’t feeling too well . One of our outfield players started in goal, we dominated the game for first 15 min then conceded , boys dropped their heads instantly and pretty much handed them the victory . U12s: U12s went down 4-3 in a thrilling cup game against APY, who are a division or 2 above us. We took the lead directly from a corner but unfortunately went in 2-1 down, giving away a sloppy goal and a pen. We pulled it back to 2-2 midway through the 2nd half, only to give away another pen to go 3-2 down. But i was so proud of the boys who, with stood a barage from our opponents from then till the end of the game, went 4-2 down, then straight from the restart pulled 1 back with my left winger completing his hatrick but it just wasn’t to be. Super proud of the effort showed from my team U14s Reds: Under 14 Reds lost 5-0 in the Middlesex Cup QF to Richmond and Hampton. The Reds started slowly but picked up. However they gave 2-0 poor goals away which made it veey difficult against a very good team. We conceded a 3rd just before half time that made it a mountain to climb. A further two goals were conceded in the second half to seal the boys fate. A lethargic start after the festive period but the best team won on the day. No complaint. We dust ourselves off, regroup and go again next week. U18s Reds: U18s lost 4-2.No keeper and just the 11 players. 2-2 with 5 mins left with 3 player unable to run. Little gutted for the boys . I would have been happy with a draw today. They battle well but not having any subs killed us. James and Sam goal scorers. James scoring a brillant free kick.

New Salamis Youth Match Round up 13 – 2023/2024

Girls Team Girls had their 2nd friendly this week , we started really strong and went into a good lead. Made some changes at half time as we are still working out the best formation and our strongest team which did change the game in favour of the opponents , but good effort from the girls U9s Whites: U9s had their worst against a Whetstone team, the score line flatters their ability. We just did not turn up today and everything was sloppy. The top division takes no prisoners! The boys will learn from it. U10s: A good win against London Colney pumas to go in to the new year on a high proud of the boys U12s: U12s won 4-0 against AFC Southgate. We were dominant from start to finish all across the pitch. The perfect way to sign off the year U14s Reds: Under 14s Red had a massive top of the table clash with AC Finchley today. The Reds started slow but got into gear and raced into a two goal lead from Georgio and Isaiah. AC Finchley probed and pulled one back to make it 2-1. However a wonderful free kick from Theo put the reds 3-1 up just before half time. A good start to the second half saw the boys pull further ahead 5-1 with two more goals from Isaiah to clinch his hat-trick. AC Finchley pulled to more goals back, one from a penalty. It was a bit nervy but Miles scored a couple of goals to complete the scoring and to win the game. 7-3 win to Salamina U18s Reds U18 won 4-1 – comfortable win for the boys. Played a bit more attacking and moved players around which did leave us open to the counter attack – overall very pleased with the performance on a poor pitch. U18 won 4-0 against Whetstone which moves us up to 4th with 4 games in hand over the 1st and 3rd placed teams. M.Menzies with a hat-trick who’s has been moved up to play as a striker. – some good football in spells. 3rd goal was well worked from defence to attacking with Muz scoring his first goal of the season.Outstanding displays from Ola and Aaron The New Salamis age groups displayed resilience, improvement, and moments of brilliance Despite challenges, each team continues to learn and grow, with an optimistic outlook for the future fixtures. Onward to more positive results in the next matches!
